What is Vabbing in BDSM?

Vabbing is when a woman scoops up vaginal secretion with their hand and dabbing it on points of the body where hormones are known to secrete. This includes behind the ears and the wrists.

This cultural phenomena comes from the idea of using one’s own pheromones to attract partners.

Despite certain influencers and guest speakers bringing up vabbing on social media, there is no scientific evidence that vabbing works to attract partners.

That said, most research regarding pheromones comes from animal studies, meanwhile human studies are varying. Most theories based on humans attracting partners using pheromones are largely inspired by animal studies.

Human beings are way too complicated for attraction to be based solely on pheromones. There are other factors at play, such as physicality, emotionality, intellect, interests, preferences, and so on. Much of which is addressed in romantic subliminals, like the one we recommend here.

The most consistent research regarding pheromones are related to those found in the breastmilk used to feed newborn babies. These pheromones are used to help build an attachment between mother and child.

Another pheromone with consistent research for expressing attraction and desirability for partners is androsterone. Androsterone secretes much more in males than it does in females. This is evidence that pheromones that attract partners do exist—however, they still aren’t the end all be all for human beings.

Saliva and sweat are also full of our pheromones.

Regardless, people who are into vabbing can still do it as a ritual that encourages confidence in one’s own body and vagina.

Tips for Vabbing

Make sure your hand is clean. You want to make sure anything you put in your vagina is clean.

Avoid vabbing if your vagina is funky. This means that if you have a yeast infection, or something along those lines—don’t vabb. Wait until your lady bits are at least smelling better before you do.
