BDSM Wax Play & Temperature Play for Beginners

Wax Play is dripping wax on yourself and/or others.

Wax Play is considered fire Temperature Play and even Edge Play because of its painful and stimulating sensations.

3 Ways to Perform Wax Play

Use the temperature of the candle. For example, you can bring the candle near the bottom’s genitals. This is to increase suspense and tension before getting into the actual play. Make sure their genitals are a safe distance from the flame; the point is just get their bits feeling the warmth.

Drop wax onto the bottom. When you perform candle wax dripping, you want to make sure you have dripping candles specifically, to prevent any injuries or issues. You also want to hold the candle high enough up that the wax driplets aren’t scorching hot when they hit the receiver’s body.

Using massage oils for sensuality. This involves using specific oils that are warm to give the bottom a more massage sensory experience that is more relaxing and therapeutic.

How to Drip Candle for Wax Play

After lighting up your soy candle, you want to start about one or two feet above your partner.

In this example, we are assuming your partner is laying flat on their stomach without a shirt or top on. You are also aiming to drip wax on their mid-back.

With the candle about one or two feet away from your partner, angle the candle downward so the wax will melt off the candlestick and onto your partner’s back.

The reason why you drip from a foot or so above your partner’s skin is because you don’t want the wax to be too hot when it touches the skin.

The distance gives the wax a chance to cool down by the time it lands on your partner.

If you’re partner wants to temperature of the wax to be hotter or cooler, you can adjust the height of the candle in relation to the body.

How to Pool Wax for Temperature Play

Pooling is allowing melted wax to accumulate in a container, such as tin, and spilling the pool of wax from the container onto your partner’s skin.

Make sure you keep a drip distance of one to two feet away from the skin.

Pooling is less accurate and more messy than using a drip candle, so consider potential splash and where your wax may land.

7 Tips & Tricks for Hot Temperature / Wax Play

The following are tips for a better wax play experience:

  1. Apply body lotion to make it easier to clean off any wax.
  2. Avoid hairy parts of the body or else wax removal is gonna hurt.
  3. Parrafin and soy candles are very good for wax play because they burn at a lower temperature that is body safe.
  4. 110 to 130 degrees F are body safe temperatures.
  5. Avoid beeswax and stearine because they burn at 150F, which is not body safe.
  6. Keep hydrated and keep a first aid kit nearby
