What is Edge Play in BDSM?
There are three types of edge play. They can apply at the same time, so make sure you know which definition you’re using when discussing edge play.
1. Edge play is SM play in which there is a risk of physical or emotional harm. It’s also dependent on the players; what’s risky for me might not be risky for you, and vice versa. Fireplay, gunplay, rough body play (including punching and wrestling), breath play, and blood play are all examples of edge play under this definition.
2. Edge play can also be translated as “edge play.” Cutting, knives, swords, and other sharp implements are examples of play. These types of edge play are also covered by #1’s broad term.
3. Any activity that pushes one or more participants beyond their comfort zones.
