Bandana Hanky Color Code

The Bandana Hanky Color Code (also known as the handkerchief code or bandana code) is a color-based code used by gay leather and fetishists to communicate their sexual preferences to others.

Each color in this code corresponds to a specific sexual preference (practice).

Originally, a bandana (handkerchief) was used to indicate the color in the back pocket of the trousers, but nowadays, cuffs and armbands (biceps-style wristbands), amphibian laces, lapels, and stripes on clothing are used (leather shirts, trousers, polo shirts, etc.)

History of the Hanky Code

The hanky code is thought to have originated during the Gold Rush in the American West.

Because there were few women, men indicated their willingness to have homosexual intercourse with a blue or pink bandana (especially during dances) to indicate whether they were available as active or passive. put it in your pocket

The hanky code was not used until much later (probably in the 1970s in New York) to indicate not only the role (active or passive) but also the specific sexual preferences (practices, fetishes, etc.) within the gay community fetish, leather, and BDSM.

The hanky code is currently used by the gay fetish, leather, and BDSM communities in Europe and the United States (at least for the main colors).

Right or left?

The position is the first fundamental element of the Hanky code: wearing a color on the right indicates a bottom role, while wearing a color on the left indicates a top role.

This code has spread beyond the hanky code, and is now used in the gay leather, fetish, and BDSM communities, along with a variety of objects such as whips, hoods, and handcuffs.

So, if you see a guy in a club wearing handcuffs on the left side of his belt, it means he enjoys handcuffing (top role), whereas if you see someone with a whip on the right side of his belt, it means he enjoys being frustrated. (Role at the bottom)

The most common colors of the Bandana Hanky Color Code

Although the hanky code includes dozens and dozens of colors (see below) the colors really used and universally known are few:

  • Yellow piss
  • Red fist
  • Gray bondage
  • Black BDSM
  • Brown Scat

These are without a doubt the most popular and widely recognized colors.

White and blue are two other popular colors (especially on leather clothing): in this case, however, the leather garments with white or blue stripes are worn for aesthetic reasons rather than for the meaning of the colors.

(So, if you see a Leatherman with white stripes on his pants, don’t automatically assume he’s interested in masturbation!)
