What is an aphrodisiac?
It is a product that is said to have the ability to increase libido and sexual desire. Aphrodisiacs can take many forms, including:
- Plant;
- Food;
- Spices;
- Essential oils;
- Medication.
Ginger, cocoa, oysters, strawberries, cinnamon, cloves, essential oil of Damiana or even Viagra and Cialis, the list of aphrodisiac products is long and the secrets of their alleged effects are transmitted through the ages.
Aphrodisiac essential oils: be careful to use them well
Among the most famous for reviving desire, we can mention ylang ylang essential oil, rose essential oil, and even ginger essential oil.
If the fact of diffusing them using a suitable device does not generally entail any particular danger for adults, ingestion of the incorrectly dosed product can lead to:
- Intestinal problems;
- Vomitings ;
- Nausea ;
- irritation of the mucous membranes;
In the most severe cases, convulsions and respiratory problems.
Some sites also praise the virtues of aphrodisiac massage with essential oils.
In case of skin contact with a pure oil or a mixture of high concentration of the substance, redness, irritation, and burns may appear. An undesirable effect that can also occur with diluted oils.

Scientists agree that the fantasies surrounding aphrodisiacs will have more of a psychological effect than a truly physical one.

It is believed to have aphrodisiac properties because it produces a feeling of euphoria and temporarily suppresses inhibitions after inhaling.
This is the reason why it is commonly used in sexual activities.
It is hazardous for people who already have heart conditions, and it also can deplete the body of oxygen, which in turn can lead to a state of illness.
