In this post, we talk about what is Dom drop, or otherwise known as “Top Drop.”
What is Dom Drop / Top Drop?
Consider a moment when you had a surge of good and exciting feelings, such as when you rode a roller coaster or finally stood up for yourself in a fight. These events frequently produce a tornado of emotions that make us feel powerful, strong, and nearly unstoppable. However, those sensations do not stay indefinitely.
Someone who identifies as a Top can feel this high and low in the same way that you will come back down to earth after an amazing trip or will have a minute to analyze the things you have finally been able to say. This is called a “Top drop”.
Top drop is an after-effect that a Dominant may experience after they have finished playing with their submissive. A sense of remorse or melancholy is generally associated with this consequence.
It occurs when a Top or Dominant releases a flood of feel-good hormones during a scene with their bottom or submissive, but their mood drops after the scene is finished.
They may be irritated, fatigued, depressed, guilty, or physically and psychologically drained. This shift in attitude might not happen right away. It can also happen hours or days later, and it feels similar to being burned out.
What Causes Top Drop?
While every person is unique, here are a few reasons why a Dominant may be experiencing a Top drop.
Chemical Changes in the Body
Other biological mechanisms that might explain the occurrence of Top drop include the production of feel-good hormones during a scene and a significant decline thereafter.
During physical activity, for example, our bodies gain energy by delving into our sugar storage (such as exercise or engaging in a high-intensity scenario). This can cause fatigue, weakness, and irritation by inducing a decrease in blood sugar levels several hours or even days after physical effort.
Not only that but it’s been reported that exercising late at night increases one’s chances of having low blood sugar by 50%. Of course, this isn’t true for everyone, but some people prefer to engage in sexual activities after dark.
