Furries are those who like to express themselves via dressing up as anthropomorphic animal characters.
These are typically not specific characters from mainstream media. Characters just refer to the outfit and persona a furry player is presenting and embodying.
Furry Fandom is the furry community, and is also referred to as the Fur Fandom, Furdom, Furrydom, and similar.
Furries in the BDSM Community
Historically speaking, people used to worship animal archetypes as gods and would revere their animal form.
Modern times had a lot of fiction about anthropomorphic animals taking on adventures that many people enjoyed.
When it comes to the BDSM community, Furry Culture is relatively new and accepted by “new protocol” but is met with resistance by “old protocol”.
Old Protocol has a “way of doing things” and is also accepting of forms of animal roleplay like Pet Play, however, some “classic” players of old protocol aren’t as accepting of furries.
However, kink communities are almost inherently progressive, so younger players just accept furries as part of BDSM as a given or see it as a natural branch of progression from Pet Play.
How to Get into the Furry Fandom Community
The furry community is pretty easy to find on social media (they’re hard to miss) and they’ve gotten a large amount of social media coverage.
So pick a social media app that you like, look into furries, reach out to someone or find events, and go from there.
There are also lots of furry conventions to attend.
Do You Need a Furry Suit to be a Furry?
No. Although a furry suit is what you would typically see on a furry player, you actually don’t need a furry suit.
Some people aren’t as into the idea of wearing full suits. So you’ll see some players only wear headpieces with glove mitts and animal boots or tails.
Whether you want to wear a full suit or a partial is completely up to you.
How To Tell What Furry Are You
Discovering “who you are” in the furry fandom is largely based on what resonates with you.
You choose whatever animal character feels most like you.
Some people will have more than one animal to roleplay as and have names for each different one.
Are Furries Sexual?
Some people like being furries for a weekend and enjoy the social events. Meanwhile, there are also furries who love to get sexual with it.
Vore Play is the arousal play of eating someone or being eaten. This form of play can sexualize how someone is eaten and/or digested.
Macro Play is a form of size play. Commonly used as a “giant animal destroying the city” kind of play.
Furries are not promoting bestiality. In fact, the community encourages the protection of real animals.
That being said, go visit a furry convention—there will be people willing to hook up, if not at least share a good time.
