This value was established to help distinguish consensual sadomasochism from abuse and unlawful violence.
SAFE means that you will identify all risks and prevent actual harm from occuring.
SANE means that you must approach BDSM practices from the mindset that everyone can realistically go in and come out unharmed and with sound mind.
CONSENT demands that everyone involved is capable of understanding what is happening, is of sound mind, and legally able to approve acting out on the practice.
SSC is concerned with your boundaries, hard/soft limits, triggers, safewords, etc.
