What do you wear at a munch? (BDSM)
Choosing what to wear to an event can be a fun, stressful, or dreadful adventure for both new and established people. It is true that knowing what to wear on a return visit to the dungeon, the event, or the club is much easier for someone who has been there before. Even someone who enjoys getting dressed for a night out can experience moments of indecision when it comes to selecting an outfit for the evening.
So, how about we try to shed some light on the situation?
For a munch:
Munches are usually held in a public, plain setting and are intended to introduce new/potential club members to existing members or leaders in the group. Because a munch is usually held in a casual restaurant or similar setting, you can wear whatever you want. Many people stop in for a bite to eat on their way home from work; as a result, you may see people dressed in business casual attire, jeans with a collared logo shirt, or even scrubs. There’s a good chance you’ll be nervous at a munch, so wearing comfortable clothes is a big plus. There will also most likely be people at the munch who are active in their clubs and remember what it was like to go to their first party.
For a club or dungeon demo and or party:
In the events section of FetLife, the majority of parties are “pimped.” There’s a section called “dress code” in the event description (fourth down). I add to this section whenever I create an event. Now, I usually say something like “fetish wear,” “theme appropriate,” or “costumes welcome.” I’ll start with the last one because it’s the simplest. The terms “costumes welcome” and “theme appropriate” are self-explanatory. The title of the event will most likely provide inspiration; for example, if the title is “Back to School Party,” a school girl/guy outfit, goth kid, or sexy teacher outfit would be appropriate. In both of these cases, reading the event details will greatly assist you in determining what wardrobe you will require. Themed parties are some of the most enjoyable and surprisingly easy to put together outfits.
