Are you wondering what is a service top? Here is a quick explanation, but read this carefully or else you’ll confuse yourself.
What exactly is a Service Top?
The Service Top plays an active role in the exchange of power. While at the same time, he is told what to do from his Power Bottom.
This is not to be confused with “topping from the bottom,” which is when a bottom is manipulating their Top in a scene when it shouldn’t be necessary.
Service Top terms
Sometimes a submissive can act as a Top as instructed by their Dominant.
In addition, any slave can be “Top” to another slave who does not have his own Dominant. In this case, the submissive does the other slave a “favor” and plays the role of “Top” for him.
This does not make him Dominant. It only means that he is “active” from time to time.
Service Top is a person who gives power to a bottom.
Another example of Service Top is a submissive who loves to get the upper hand according to his partner’s desires. This person is an active person who applies actions and techniques to a partner. Instead of dominating him, he acts under his Dominant’s will.
In some cases, the term “Service Top” is used disparagingly towards a person who identifies as Dominant yet still allows the submissive to dictate what will or will not happen in the scene. It occurs when those who identify as Dominant lack the courage, confidence, or conviction in themselves, or their relationships, to ask for what they want or even demand or expect reciprocity in a scene.
Conclusion
The one on Top, performing the Dominant role, is not necessarily dominant, and vice versa, and the bottom does not necessarily obey.
Likewise, the bottom is not necessarily submissive. The one on the bottom may enjoy intense physical and psychological stimulation but not obey whoever delivers it.
Likewise, the submissive isn’t always the bottom. They can enjoy the dominant’s orders without receiving any physical stimulation.
For bottoms that are not submissive, the bottom is most often the partner giving instructions – the Top usually becomes the Top when and following the demands of the bottom.
A Service Top gains satisfaction from pleasuring their Power Bottom.
If this seems confusing, you’ll have a much better understanding when you know what a Power Bottom is.
