In this post, we talk about what is ageplay in BDSM.
What is Ageplay in BDSM?
Ageplay is a catch-all phrase for any sort of BDSM roleplay in which you pretend to be someone else’s age (typically younger) than you are. It’s fairly widespread in the kink community. That’s why you’ll find full-grown folks in pajamas sucking thumbs and hugging teddy bears during certain play parties.
People participate in ageplay for a variety of reasons. Even if it’s just for a game, being a kid again may bring a sense of comfort and security, an escape from the adult world of duty, backache, sadness, and boring cereal. Ageplay may be relaxing, entertaining, and a terrific way to strengthen bonds between couples.
The role of each age
There is a clear power dynamic in ageplay: the big is in charge (taking the role of the Dominant), while the little follow commands (taking the role of the submissive).
But it doesn’t necessarily have to be this way. There are many other situations in which the submissive may be in charge:
- A spoiled little girl who has Daddy wrapped around her finger
- A middle flirting with a hapless older man
- A little that enjoys bossing around their older siblings
- The progeny of royalty toying with servants and nannies
In kink, like in anything else, there are no hard and fast rules. It is entirely up to you to determine what works best for you. You get to select the story you want to act out. It’s absolutely up to you how much engagement you want to put in.
Age play can be sexual or nonsexual
Ageplay has no sexual connotation for many individuals. The experience is all about letting go of responsibilities, relaxing, and having a childlike sense of joy. These ageplayers are loving and cuddly, but they aren’t always interested in anything sexual.
Ageplay, on the other hand, can be a sexual experience. And it’s understandable that this makes some people uncomfortable. Ageplay may be distressing for abuse survivors, and despite the fact that it does not include kids, some individuals believe it is unethical.
It’s vital to remember that sexual ageplay, like many other BDSM activities, is based on imagination. It’s something that only consenting adults can do, and it’s not to be confused with age-based attraction or abuse.
Not everyone is a fan of sexual ageplay. But there’s no need to feel awkward or guilty if it’s something you like. You’ve reached adulthood. As an adult, you can explore your fictional fantasies in any way you want as long as you don’t harm yourself or others.
Ageplay activity ideas
You’re into ageplay and that is amazing. But what is it, exactly? How do you go about doing it? What do you do when you’re in a small (or middle, or large) headspace?
A typical ageplay session will consist of one or two activities that a small and a Big may do together to relax, have fun, and explore their roleplay identities. Here are a few suggestions:
- Colouring
- Snacks
- Playtime
- Video Games
- Daytrips
- Story Time
- Baking
- Rewards and Punishments
- Bathtime
- Naps
